Gug Terms and Conditions

The currency of the grownupgreen website is known as "gugs". These can be collected and used to purchase rewards, as outlined on the site itself.

Gugs have no independent value and cannot be exchanged for anything other than the rewards offered on the site. It the event of grownupgreen ceasing to operate, no compensation will be forthcoming for gugs collected and un-used at the date of closure.

While every effort is made to post appropriate rewards on the site, there may be occasions when this is not possible. PIP accepts no liability in this respect.

Donations Terms and Conditions

We are grateful for donations made through grownupgreen's on-line facility, which is administered through the www.workwithus.org website run by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations. When you donate money to PIP through the website, it is on the following terms:

  • We do not accept any liability for problems, errors or omissions arising from SCVO's own website.
  • Money thus donated is unrestricted in the purposes it can be put to within the charitable purposes of PIP.

EDITORIAL POLICY

  • We welcome material, articles and comments for publication from everyone. Your contributions are important to us.
  • Material submitted to grownupgreen should not be inconsistent with its philosophy on supporting sustainable development. Views expressed by contributors, within this context, will not necessarily reflect the individual views of the Projects in Partnership Board or grownupgreen's editorial staff.
  • Offensive or libellous material will not be published. We encourage debate and will willingly act as a forum for exchanging views but material that is unlawful, or amounts to personal vilification or insult will not be published.
  • You must ensure, also, that you do not use discriminatory remarks.
  • Material may be edited for inclusion. The appearance and presentation of your article may be altered to suit the particular page or section in which we include the item. Please do not use complicated formatting; straightforward paragraphs are ideal.
  • We may edit or change any part of your article to suit our needs, format or themes of grownupgreen and if we feel something is unclear, unsuitable, incorrect, or for any other reason we may return the article to you with comments so that you can adjust it accordingly.
  • We would like you to produce facts to support opinions wherever possible, and opinions given without a supporting factual basis should be clearly identified as such.
  • If you submit material with a technical or scientific basis, it should clearly state its research provenance, and cite references.
  • The editorial team shall resolve any issues over use of materials by applying these principles, and their decision is final.
  • However, any complaints or disputes about the application of these principles or over published material may be referred, in writing, to the editorial advisory group.
  • From time to time, the editorial advisory group may review samples of grownupgreen material, to help ensure a consistent approach, and to make sure we are properly following our policies and philosophy.
  • We only accept submissions in electronic form.
  • Text must be sent in a Word document of around 500 words. This includes everything to appear on the web page including the title, any acknowledgement and any copyright statement. Please use Arial 12 point, left justified.
  • If you intend to use photographs in your articles please save these as jpeg files (e.g. solarpic.jpeg). We encourage the use of suitable images.
  • As a Registered Charity we are rarely able to pay for articles.
  • Submitting an article means that the copyright becomes that of grownupgreen. If you wish to retain the copyright, please say so in your covering e-mail and include a copyright statement in your article.

EDITORIAL PROCESS

  • We shall make sure our policies are generally available (on website) and that contributors/prospective contributors know about them.
  • We shall make editorial decisions by applying grownupgreen policies/principles, and apply such policies and principles consistently. Each case shall be considered on its own merits.
  • The grownupgreen editorial team shall maintain control over publishing material.
  • Any complaint or dispute that the principles have not been correctly applied should be made in writing to the editor.
  • Where complaints refer to the editorial advisory group, we shall aim to notify interested parties of its decision within 3 months.

Environmental policy

PIP undertakes to manage its business so as to ensure a minimum of environmental impact. It will do this in the following ways:

  • It will employ the principles of reduce, recycle and reuse in all its activities
  • It will encourage its personnel to make responsible transport decisions
  • It will bear in mind environmental impacts in all its purchasing decisions
  • It will use environmental factors in risk analysis for all of its work

Equalities and diversity policy

PIP believes that to achieve its charitable aims it needs to attract a diverse range of people to become Trustees, staff and users and members of the grownupgreen website. It is important that this be thought about and worked towards so that the experiences of those involved with the charity and grownupgreen may be made rich and fulfilling.

PIP understands that some people may experience barriers to full inclusion in society, including the prejudice and ignorance of others, and resolves to acknowledge this in its work and actively seek ways, in all that it does, to learn how to identify and minimise the effects of those barriers.

Ethical Policy

PIP's charitable objectives are:

  • To advance public education in the protection and improvement of the natural environment
  • To help and enable society to develop in a sustainable way
  • To increase awareness about sustainable living and practical ways of achieving this

grownupgreen is the primary vehicle through which PIP will meet these objectives. We believe everyone can make a positive difference to their environment, however small, and should be encouraged to do so. We are committed to raising awareness, providing information, training materials and practical skills to contribute to a sustainable world environment. We shall do this in a way that engenders trust and openness with our users and other stakeholders.

Specifically, we encourage individuals and groups to get involved with environmental and sustainable development issues, corporate/social responsibility and fair trade.

In the course of debate on sustainability, we recognise that there will be a range of views and opinions. Whilst we respect others' views, we shall not promote or enter into business with those whose goals and philosophies appear to be inconsistent with our aims.

grownupgreen respects human rights, values diversity, and supports equality of opportunities (as well as complying with current legislation, we shall not discriminate on grounds of age).

Where ethical dilemmas arise, we shall work promptly to reach an equitable resolution. The content of grownupgreen shall be regularly monitored to make sure there is compliance with this policy.

We shall principally endeavour to work only with people and organisations who share grownupgreen's philosophy, or whose beliefs are complementary.
